Singing and performing since she was a child, like many great singers, Alethea Mills began her life with music in church. Although she grew up Christian, she was exposed to many as a child. Being the youngest of four, Alethea was extremely introverted. Writing became her favorite way to communicate. Alethea says, "Once I realized it was easiest for me to make sense of my feelings by writing them, I never stopped. I fell in love with the freedom of writing."
During her junior year of high school, she was introduced to legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Jackson Browne. While being a member of the Gospel Choir at the George Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, Alethea accompanied Browne along with the choir for several performances. In 2002, Alethea was blessed with the opportunity to sing on Browne's album, "The Naked Ride Home". After receiving a BFA in Fashion Design in 2006, Alethea was later asked to be a part of Browne's 2008 album, "Time the Conqueror". That year she toured the world with Browne as a member of his band. The "Time the Conqueror" tour began in the United States and made its way to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Norway, and Amsterdam. The year 2010 brought another amazing year of touring with Browne.
"Jackson really pushed me to write and I'm grateful for all the time and energy he has invested in me. It's so rare just to know someone like him," Alethea said while reflecting on what inspired her to step out on her own. Alethea's music combines her soul stirring gospel roots with conscious lyrics that attempt to paint the pictures in her mind.
Upon returning from the road, Alethea has begun to take her rightful place as a solo performer. With valuable inspiration and support from Browne, Alethea is finding her voice and perspective as a singer and songwriter. The stage has always welcomed her with open arms and she is ready to make her mark upon the world.
